Transcriptomic Analysis of Juvi Lyoni is Here!
Yesterday, I was so fascinated to finally get my hands on the result of transcriptomes from Lyoni babies. The RNA-seq went well as I managed to obtain 120,000 RNA gene transcripts (annotated). Out of this, only 10 genes are mapped to spidroin..It is small fraction though but highly informative. Of these, 7 genes are assembled for MaSp which is what I am working on right now. The other 3 genes are mapped to the aggregate (glue) silk protein (pyriform equivalent). The genes are in line with what I got for the adult. In fact, the result corroborates my hypothesis on the number of active silk genes and silk glands in the babies. Now, I can get to design new primers to obtain a full seq of the MaSp. Also, I was really excited to know that the upcoming season 2 of Biohackers will be aired on July, 9th 2021. Crossing fingers to watch it!
Jeng, jeng....July, 9th.....
