A new Year with a DIY Microinjector Setup
Hey folks,
I want to share with you guys today's trial and error to setup a DIY microinjector using a cosmetic injector. In the previous post, I mentioned that a cosmetic injector was brought from Shopee at roughly RM200. For the needle selection, I had to test a various number of needles with different size. At first, I used an ultra fine size needle of insulin syringe by injecting onto the spider's abdomen. However, in that trial, all of the specimen immediately died following the injection. I also tested different injection conditions in terms of the speed and volume and at the end, a mode at continuous and 1 cc volume was the best condition. I am still stuck with the needle issue. As the last resort, I changed the needle to the micro-needle used for injecting serum onto skin by cosmeticians. To my surprise, the injection was successful at that injection volume and all the injected spiders survived! This was great but now I need to find a way to change the ultra fine needle to micro-needle. I will try to figure out how to solve this. Crossing fingers to this, yosh!
