13th Generation of Inbred Line is Here!
Hello guys, so today I want to share about the progress of inbreeding of C. lyoni. After finishing my Ph.D study, I still continue to inbreed them until achieving the 20th generation. Then, I can finally call them as an inbred strain. Today when I checked the hatchling, all of them were devoid of the mutation, which means the mutation was definitely due to the effect of CRISPR/Cas9. And guess what, it is the 13th inbred generation! I cannot believe I can make it this far. And from the level of inbreeding based on the average inbreeding coefficient, the level was really high at ca. 93%! Hopefully, they do not experience inbreeding depression and I look forward to getting the 14th generation of inbred line!
